2023. Health launched: the first product under the MGA model, with a redesigned purchase journey.
Chapters
Klinc started as an internal startup within Zurich Spain, with one goal: fully digital, on-demand insurance that customers could buy and manage on their own from an app. It launched with device insurance and grew into a portfolio of life, mobility, motor, household and health products.
Agile, in two-week sprints, with the pace of a startup inside a large insurer. That meant moving fast while still meeting the regulatory, actuarial and operational standards of a traditional company.
Each product was built by a multi-company team: front-end (iOS, Android and Angular web), middleware (Node.js on Azure), QA and Scrum Master profiles from Accenture; the core insurance platform (IBA), developed by a Danish vendor's back-end team; and Zurich's product, business, design and marketing teams, together with Salesforce and other integration partners.
Every sprint balanced three things: solving the problems in front of us, keeping value and revenue flowing for the business, and staying technically up to date. We reserved a percentage of each sprint's capacity for technical debt and production incident management.

Life insurance comes with complex rules, regulatory requirements and traditional ways of working. Klinc was built for a different experience: digital-first, simple and self-service. The challenge was to bring those two worlds together without compromising the product or the customer experience.
I led the business stream, managing a team of four product and actuarial specialists and acting as the bridge between business and technology.
We worked towards an end-to-end, e-commerce-style purchase journey that customers could complete independently. I aligned sales, operations, finance, marketing, legal and technology around the project goals, translating business and regulatory requirements into a digital experience designed to make purchasing easier.
A subscription-based life insurance product added to Klinc's digital platform, with a self-service purchase journey designed around the needs of digital customers.
Turn a new insurance concept into a fully digital product covering six types of personal mobility vehicles, from e-scooters and bicycles to hoverboards and segways. Unlike traditional vehicle insurance, the coverage followed the person, regardless of which vehicle they used.
As Product Owner, I led the functional delivery of a 12-person Scrum team across front-end and middleware, owning backlog prioritisation, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional validation.
I translated business requirements into detailed user stories, covering purchase flows, business rules, validations and edge cases. Working closely with business stakeholders, developers and an external core insurance provider, I managed priorities, coordinated API dependencies and validated deliveries to keep the product moving towards launch.
Launched a fully digital personal mobility insurance product in 5 months, covering six vehicle categories and expanding Klinc's offering beyond device insurance.
Bring Zurich's digital motor insurance, originally developed under the doppo brand, into Klinc as a fully digital product. This meant delivering much more than a purchase journey: the full insurance lifecycle, with multiple systems, vendors and business areas involved.
I led technical delivery across front-end, the core insurance platform, Salesforce and integration partners, coordinating the work from concept to go-live.
We delivered a modular insurance product, from third-party to fully comprehensive coverage, with quoting, purchasing, policy management, renewals and claims available through the app and web. Behind the experience were integrations with insurance industry systems, pricing, finance, taxes and claims processes. I coordinated dependencies across vendors and aligned underwriting, actuarial, legal, compliance, claims, operations, UX, engineering and marketing around a shared delivery plan. When front-end and back-end teams disagreed about where a piece of logic should live, I asked each team to estimate the effort, time and impact of implementing it on their side. We used those estimates and architectural considerations to agree on the best solution for the system, rather than letting vendor boundaries dictate technical decisions.
10-person agile team across iOS, Android, web and QA, working alongside external technology vendors.
Klinc's first fully digital motor insurance went live in May 2021, following approximately six months of development, with the full insurance lifecycle available through digital channels.
Household insurance was one of the most configurable products in Klinc's portfolio: multiple coverage options, property details, cadastre integration and a claims process involving different service providers and branching scenarios. The challenge was to turn all that flexibility into a simple, fully digital experience where customers always understood what they were choosing.
Front-end Product Owner, responsible for backlog prioritisation, functional requirements and delivery coordination. Beyond my core responsibilities, I frequently stepped into broader project-level decisions, helping resolve cross-vendor dependencies, evaluate technical trade-offs and keep delivery moving.
We put clarity for the customer first at every step, from choosing the right cover to opening a claim. I coordinated front-end delivery while tracking dependencies across five technology vendors at least one week ahead. When back-end services weren't ready, we worked with mocks and re-sequenced the backlog so development could continue.
Five technology vendors, working closely with business, product managers, design and operations.
Launched Klinc Household in under 6 months, delivering an integrated digital purchase experience across five technology vendors while navigating complex product requirements and technical constraints.
Launch Klinc's first health insurance product, combining DKV's medical network of 51,000+ professionals with a Fitbit/Google wellbeing ecosystem. The product relied on DKV's core insurance platform, while Klinc was also refreshing its digital purchase experience. The challenge was to bring together a partner-owned product, a new visual identity for the purchase journey and a consistent customer experience.
Product Owner and Project Manager, coordinating product requirements, technical delivery and the implementation of the new design system, working closely with UX, development teams and DKV.
I mapped DKV's product, processes and screens to align the partner's insurance model with Klinc's customer experience. As part of the purchase journey rebranding, I led the technical implementation of a new design system, translating UX designs into a reusable component library. We followed a build-and-validate approach: implementing components, validating them with UX and then using the library to develop the new purchase flows. I also supported Klinc's transition to an underwriting agency (MGA) model, with Health becoming the first product launched under this structure.
Development and UX teams, working with DKV as the insurance partner.
Launched Klinc Health in January 2023, bringing DKV's insurance product into Klinc's redesigned digital purchase experience and marking the first product launch under its new MGA model.
